Heaton Park

near Prestwich, Lancashire - Earl of Wilton

"Heaton Park is situated about four miles from Manchester, and is a handsome stone structure, built under the superintendence of Wyatt, with columns of the Ionic order and a circular projection in the centre, surmounted bu a spacious dome.

Adam de Heton was the earliest recorded dweller at this place, as mentioned in the 'Testa de Nevill' in the reign of Henry the Third. Later on the estate came into the possession of the Langley family, from which again it passed to Richard Holland of Denton.

The estate then passed to Sir John Egerton through his marriage to Elizabeth Holland, whose great grandson, Sir Thomas Grey Egerton, was created Baron Grey de Wilton in 1784. His daugher, Eleanor, married Robert, Viscount Grosvenor, of the family of the Marquis of Westminster, in 1794."
