Aldby Park

near Stamford Bridge, Yorkshire - Darley family

"The mansion of Aldby Park is a fine building in the early Italian style, built in the reign of George the First, after the designs of Sir John Canbrugh, and completed in 1726.

In the female line the family descends from Jane Darley, who became heiress of the estate on the death of her four brothers, two of whom were supposed to have been poisoned at Aleppo in Syria. Jane married Henry Brewster, and had a son, Henry Brewster Darley.

His grandson, Henry Darley, became High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1827."
